Koepka muscles to second major title of 36th WGA Tour

P.Sies palm Wanamaker Trophy and reign supreme

It's been a P.Sie sort of year (P.Sie bigheads not only reigned supreme over this year's WGA, but they also won the BSFL title, too). At the 36th WooGA Tour finale, Paine Shreinbeck was one down to the Rabbits on the 55th tee, but ended-up two better than Sangeteve Harvey at Bellerive to win the 100th PGA Championship. The P.Sies needed a record setting effort to secure the title, beating the previous PGA tournament low score by eight strokes while carding 1082. Duking it out for third, the Ball Busters and Slyders finished deadlocked at the end of regulation play, then tied again when fifth whackers, Tony Finau for Richmond P. Neff's squad and Martin Kaymer for Mike Sylvester, posted identical 277s. It fell to sixth bangers to determine the outcome as Ball Buster Jimmy Walker beat Slyder Ollie Schniederjans by three, 277-280.

Notable milestones were achieved by three teams: the P.Sies became the first member of the WooGA's 21 Grand Club at $21,323; the Hackers gained the fifth admission into the 16 Grand Club at $16,020; and the Strokers earned the eighth membership in the 10 Grand Club at $10,152.

Rabbit Brooks Koepka won his second major of the year (also the U.S. Open) by keeping P.Sie Tiger Woods in his rearview mirror.

The 36th Tour turned out to be the closest scramble for Season Team Scoring in WGA history. The Hackers, 7 up going into the final stop, were ambushed as the P.Sies posted 17 whacks better to give Paine Shreinbeck the scoring title by 10. In order to accomplish the scoring title grab, the P.Sies had to set a new Season Team Scoring record of 69.974 which beat the stroke average of 70.021 by Mert Truswell back in 2001. While the P.Sies were rising to the top, the Strokers stumbled but had enough of a cushion to hang on to third by 26 pops less than the Rabbits. Despite slicing 19 strokes off the margin, the Rabbits settled for fourth as the Slyders gave up 12 more to the hares.

It was a battle of attrition for the Season Medalist title as the top two contenders, Hacker Phil Mickelson and Stroker Bryson DeChambeau failed to make the final cut. While Mickelson fell a cut short of qualifying for the Season Medalist crown, DeChambeau had just enough with 14 to survive at the top with a 69.79 stroke average. Two golfers trailed by 17 pops, Jammer Austin Cook and Flossie Charles Howell, and finished tied for second. An all-time low of four golfers were all that qualified for the Season Medalist title because of the fewest number of teams competing in WGA Tour history.

That's a wrap for the 36th WGA Tour. Next on the tee will be the 37th WooGA draft in January at WG&CC with a round for all on the P.Sie's tab.
