Hatton holds off Leishman for first WooGA title

Ball Busters bang out double whammy win at Arnie

Sheer numbers were in the favor of every WGA money maker at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with the Ball Busters and Bogey Dukes both having six whackers playing on the weekend, and the Strokers even better with eight. Volume was one thing, but how well the cut makers played the bigger factor. It was Richmond Neff who outdid the others, despite giving up seven pops to runnerup Fulbright Dowell in the final round still won by four. That left Harry Palmer, with the biggest army, having to settle for third. The double whammy that resulted, Richmond Neff's 19th WooGA win, earned the Busters the 17th membership into the WGA's 4 Grand Club at $4,018.

Ball Buster Tyrrell Hatton cemented his first WooGA medalist title by a stroke over Hacker Marc Leishman to give Richmond Neff a coveted double whammy. Certainly no easy feat considering it was the highest scoring Arnie in its 38 years as a WGA event.

The 1,156 strokes by the Ball Busters is the 21st worst number of whacks ever taken in a tournament winning effort since the WGA's inception in 1983. Gerry Nielsen holds the distinction of taking the most on the way to the winner's trough with 1,177 at the 2007 Masters.
