Marya Jensen
CLASS of 1991 Track, Volleyball and Basketball ATHLETE
Marya excelled in three sports for the Panthers, gaining initial acclaim as a high jumper for the track squad. As a sophomore, she tied the school record and qualified for her second state track meet. Marya was a two-time "All-Big Nine" high jumper as well as "district champion" in that event while making it to the state meet four times.

A two-year volleyball starter, she earned a berth on the "All-Big Nine" team as a hitter her senior year and was named to the "2nd All-Big Nine" team as a junior. Marya played a major role on state tournament teams in 1990 & 91 and served as captain in 1991.

On the basketball court, she set the WHS record for career rebounds with 817 while starting for four years. Marya earned "2nd team All-Big Nine" honors as a junior and was team captain for two seasons.

She finished her Wenatchee High athletic career by receiving the "Panther Best" award as well as having accumulated ten varsity letters. Marya was a finalist for "NCW High School Female Athlete of the Year" in 1990.

As a two-year starter for the University of Washington volleyball team, she was instrumental as the Huskies earned a NCAA Tournament berth her senior season. UW coach Bill Neville described her as "All everything" and a resident member of the Pac 10 "All-Academic Team" after earning the honor four consecutive years. Marya was a finalist for "NCW Sports Awards College Female Athlete of the Year" twice.
