When Cathy Kuntz completed her prep athletic career, she was recognized as the most honored female athlete in Wenatchee High School history in three sports - volleyball, basketball and softball. At Portland State, she continued to excel as a four-year starter in both volleyball and basketball, completing collegiate competition listed on PSU career and season best charts for both sports. Cathy led the basketball team in scoring, rebounds and steals in 1988 and 1989. She was named to the All-West Region volleyball team in 1987 and 1988 after playing on two NCAA-II national championship squads. Cathy was chosen as Portland State's Female Athlete of the Year in 1989. She went on to become the head coach of PSU's volleyball team in 1993 and 1994.
