Ron Collins
Football, Wrestling & Track
Ron was an exceptional three-sport star in football, wrestling and track at Cashmere High School. On the gridiron, he set school rushing records as a slashing tailback and also dominated in the defensive backfield to earn all-state honors in the A classification. Ron was also a state wrestling champion and an outstanding track athlete. He earned a total of 10 varsity letters.

At Washington State University, Ron was a three-year starter at strong safety for the Cougars and served as a team captain his senior season. He intercepted three passes against Stanford during his sophomore year.

Ron received two NCW Athlete-of-the-Year awards - 1982 in the High School Male category, and 1985 in the College Male classification. In addition he was also a Sports Awards finalist in 1986 and '87 as a college athlete. Ron was honored as North Central Washington Male Athlete of the Decade for the 1980s.

He went on to become a college football coach serving as defensive coordinator at Washington University (St. Louis), defensive coordinator at Boise State, defensive coordinator at the University of Colorado, and linebackers coach at Ohio University.
