Variety was the spice of life for Jeni considering she was a rare six sport athlete while at Brewster High School. She was a dominant basketball player, earning four 'A' all-state berths and was named state 'A' Player of the Year twice. Jeni was selected to the all classifications Washington all-state team as a senior as well. During her four-year prep basketball career, she averaged 19.2, 23.9, 27.7 and 28.0 points per game. Jeni played soccer for three seasons and was an all-Caribou League selection once, and second team all-league twice. In golf, she placed second at the state '1A' tournment as a senior. Jeni finished fifth in the state 'A' track meet in the high jump as a frosh, was fourth both her sophomore and junior years at state in tennis, and started her freshman year for the volleyball team.

She began her collegiate basketball career at the University of Portland before transferring to North Idaho Community College where she was named to the second team junior college all-American team. Jeni went on to start for Idaho State University averaging 10.5 and 13.5 points per game while playing for the Bengals.

Jeni was a NCW Sports Awards finalist seven times - four times as a high school athlete, and three times as a college athlete. She was selected as North Central Washington Female Athlete of the Year three times - twice in high school and once in college.
